LOOKING FOR A RECIPE
[ Posted by CHRISTIE on Wed Mar 8th, 2006 at 11:15:24 AM ] [ 7 replies ]
I was in P.R. a few years ago and I visited my friend grandmothers house. She had made dinner and I was looking fot a recipe to what she made. Not sure what is was called, but it was white doughy things that where in the shape of fingers and she made them with bacalao. I would really like to make if anyone knows what I am talking about.

Sounds to me like she made Bacalaitos in shapes of Sorullos de Maíz.

It sounds like something my grandmother from Ponce used to make. They called them Guanimo. They were white dough sorullos that were boiled in water then usually added to bacalao guisado or sancocho. They are really soft on the outside but have a slightly firmer bite on the inside. The one thing that I have been able to relate them to that have helped my ango friends understand what they taste like is that they can somewhat be compared to gnocci. Guanimo is by far one of my favorite comfort foods!
